About Us

Welcome to the equine veterinary practice of Megan L. Snyder, VMD.

I am a part of a group of independent equine veterinarians that make up Damascus Equine Associates. The other members include: Roger Scullin, VMD; Peter Radue, DVM & Edward Radue, DVM; James Lewis, DVM; Amy Polkes, DVM, DACVIM; Michael Erskine, DVM DABVP (equine), Suzanne Welker, DVM & Alex Yerkes, DVM.  Each veterinarian has their own ambulatory practice that covers an area including Montgomery and Howard county, and parts of Carroll and Frederick counties. The Damascus Equine Clinic is located in Mount Airy and offers outpatient care.

Our mission is to provide you and your horse with the highest quality care available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our experienced equine staff will work with you and to provide first-rate service and diagnostics. Our medical care is based on proven, scientific medicine, utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment and therapeutic techniques.

Dr. Megan Snyder

Dr. Snyder was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania where she competed in 4-H and AQHA events.  At the age of eleven, she began competing in National Reining Horse Association shows and worked with a reining horse trainer throughout high school.  She then moved to State College, Pennsylvania where she received a B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Equine Science from Pennsylvania State University.

Following Penn State, Dr. Snyder continued onto the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School and completed her degree in 2010.  She tracked in Equine Medicine and spent most of her clinical year at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  After graduation, Dr. Snyder completed a one year internship with Dr. Michael Erskine before joining Damascus Equine Associates as an associate.

Dr. Snyder’s professional interests include sports medicine and internal medicine.  She is an FEI Official Veterinarian for Eventing, a USEF testing veterinarian and a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) where she serves on the Performance Horse Committee. 

Anytime Dr. Snyder is not working, you may find her riding her reining horses or visiting with friends and family.  An avid football fan, Dr. Snyder spends her fall cheering on the Nittany Lions and Pittsburg Steelers.

Dr. Snyder resides in Woodbine, Maryland with her husband, Shannon, their daughter, Ava, and their multiple critters on their farm.

Corey grew up in Western Howard County and enjoys spending her time doing all things outdoors with her two high energy dogs along with caring for her chickens and 30 year old Thoroughbred-Warmblood cross, Yoda. Corey is fond of trail riding, hiking, and kayaking. Her education includes attending Howard Community College in addition to the University of Maryland to obtain her associates degree in general studies with an emphasis on science. She is a certified therapeutic riding instructor with experience in barn management.  Prior to joining Dr. Snyder, Corey worked as a small animal veterinary assistant where she focused on developing her technical skills in the field.
